30,000 page views every month?! I just about fell over in my chair when I saw that I hit this milestone.

When I started my first blog (it’s called A Southern Wedding if you’re curious) back in 2020, I had no clue how to create a blog that drove traffic or how to make money blogging.

Don’t even get me started on SEO and Pinterest strategies – I was clueless!

Thankfully, after a lot of hard work, research, course-work, and trial and error, I’ve learned some strategies that took my blog from 0 to consistently getting 30,000 page views every single month.

If you’re looking to grow your blog and boost your traffic, you’re in the right spot!

It can be super frustrating to work so hard on your blog just so your posts can never see the light of day. After all, what’s the point of putting in all that work just so no one reads it?

These strategies took my blog from 0 to 30,000 and from new blogger to profitable business. Now, I want to share it with YOU so that it can hopefully help you do the same!

Why Use Pinterest As a
Traffic Source?

Doesn’t everyone just use Google? This is a common misconception when it comes to blogging. And yes, while a lot of people will just jump on Google for their searches, a lot of people will also use Pinterest.

In fact, Pinterest has over 450 million active users
monthly. That is massive!

Pinterest is actually a powerful visual search engine and functions in similar ways to Google. When people are on Pinterest, they’re looking for not only solutions, but they’re also looking for ideas and inspiration.

This can make it a superior source of traffic for bloggers, depending on your niche.

One of the great parts about using Pinterest is that when using the right strategies, there is less competition and you’re more easily able to rank for keywords (meaning people are more likely to be shown your pins and therefore click through to your website).

The best part about using Pinterest for search traffic is that it’s free! You don’t have to pay for ads in the hopes you’ll show up at the top of the search rankings like you might have to do when using Google.

However, you can definitely use paid ads on Pinterest to boost your pins as well, it’s just not necessary to see some success.

How Do I Grow My Blog on Pinterest?

My Pinterest Results:

Above you can see my starting point, and the second is my most recent page views snapshot. Though I started hitting 30,000 page views in July of the previous year, I have only been posting a little here and there, and have still been able to maintain that traffic.

At the beginning, and for the next year, I STRUGGLED to get traffic. And as a result, I ended up ignoring my blog for an entire year in frustration.

It was a nightmare. I spent so much time on my posts and no one was seeing anything.

I’d go pin an image to Pinterest and cross my fingers. Then, perhaps unsurprisingly, was met with a very minuscule bump in traffic that died out quickly again.

Once I figured out Pinterest, everything changed.

The vast majority of my traffic now (and has been for the past year and a half) is from Pinterest and was completely automated using Tailwind.

If you’re not familiar with Tailwind, it’s a complete game changer. Using this platform and automating this process made it A) easy to stick to my strategies and B) saved me so. much. time.

And I don’t know about you, but I’m busy. You’re busy, we’re all busy. The lesson here is automate everything you can so you’re free to work on other strategies to grow your blog and make money.

I used Tailwind to schedule 20 pins per day to my own boards and ramped that up to 30 pins per day over the course of several weeks (don’t want Pinterest thinking you’re spam!)

Now, the automation is fabulous but the real secret sauce was utilizing Tailwind Communities (formerly called Tailwind Tribes).

The strategy I used with these community posts is what took my blog from a dud to a stud, and subsequently made my own pins rank higher and higher when I pinned them.
