  2. Post Your Pin to Pinterest

  3. Write Your Pin Description

  5. Post Your Pin

1. Create a Pin Image

Once you’ve written your blog post on your website of choice, you’ll need to create a Pin image. Because Pinterest is a visual search engine, you need your image to grab the viewer’s attention and clearly convey what your blog post is about so they want to click and read more.

To create a Pin for your post, use an website like Canva. Canva allows you to easily create beautiful Pin images and you can easily make small tweaks like changing out the picture, font styles, and colors to create a handful of similar but different Pin images. This will allow you to post more than one Pin for your blog, meaning additional opportunities for your post to be clicked on and read!

2. Post Your Pin to Pinterest

Next, you’ll go onto the Pinterest website and select “Create,” followed by “Create a Pin.” Here you’ll upload your Pin image.

3. Write Your Pin Description

This is an important but often overlooked part of posting Pins. In this description you’ll need a title that captures attention, followed by a paragraph describing your blog post and including relevant keywords.

Keywords are words and phrases that people type into the Pinterest search bar to find the ideas, inspiration, solution or products they’re looking for.

In order to have optimized Pins that drive traffic, you need to carefully think through what keywords pertain to your blog post.

Think about what solution your blog post solves, what words people might use to describe it, and what the search wording would need to be to arrive at it. Use these words and phrases as your targeted keywords.

When you have your desired keywords, write a couple of sentences including those keywords in a natural way. This will help people discover your Pins, and in turn discover your blog post!

Don’t forget to include your blog post URL before you publish your Pin, you want viewers to be able to find your post and boost your page views!

This step may go without saying, post your Pin to start receiving blog traffic from Pinterest. If your Pin is successful at driving traffic, you’ll want to use similar designs for your next Pin images. If it doesn’t do as well as you’d like, you may have to make small adjustments to your Pin graphics until you find a style that works for you.
